About the role
The Patient Access Representative (PAR) is responsible for greeting and registration of patients at Gila Regional Medical Center (GRMC). The PA representative gathers necessary demographic and billing information, processes paperwork, and assists with various clerical tasks.
Responsibilities
- Registers patients accurately and promptly
- Verifies insurance eligibility and obtains prior authorizations
- Processes paperwork and ensures complete documentation
- Captures copayments and deductibles
- Answers phones and transfers calls
- Operates the central alarm system
- Maintains confidentiality per HIPAA standards
- Greets visitors and directs patients
- Processes orders such as transfers and discharges
- Communicates with other departments regarding pending authorizations and denials
- Attends staff meetings and in-service programs
- Participates in the on-call program
- Operates the switchboard and intercom to manage incoming and outgoing calls
- Furnishes information and relays messages to callers
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Up to 2 years of college education preferred
- Customer service experience, including insurance billing, required
- Familiarity with medical terminology and basic computer skills
- Microsoft Outlook proficiency
- Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)
