About the role
Humboldt Park Health is a 200-bed, acute care facility deeply committed to serving the Humboldt Park community since 1894. We provide patient-centered healthcare focusing on quality of care, ranging from everyday care to critical treatments.
Responsibilities
- Carefully gathers and documents patient, guarantor, relative, or police information through interviews or documentation.
- Enters all gathered information into the computer system.
- Completes registration and consent forms, obtains necessary signatures, copies insurance cards and IDs, produces labels and arm bands, and distributes the documentation to appropriate areas.
- Verifies insurance benefits and obtains necessary prior approvals, and informs patients about scheduled procedures, times, and dates.
- Schedules patients in the Meditech CWS module according to departmental guidelines, providing any necessary pre-procedure instructions.
- Quotes flat rate amounts via telephone and in person to physicians and/or patients, including anesthesia rates.
- Pre-registers scheduled inpatients and outpatients, ensuring all phases of scheduling are completed.
- Processes death certificates and releases of remains according to protocol.
- Notifies transporters to pick up patients when required and informs the Nursing Supervisor of inpatient admissions, obtaining bed assignments.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Regulatory agencies, including maintaining confidentiality.
Requirements
- At least one year of relevant experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to type 40 words per minute.
- Experience on the Meditech system is a plus.
