About the role
The Patient Access Representative will handle all aspects of the patient registration process, including verifying patient identity, registering patients for appropriate services, and explaining and collecting payments.
Responsibilities
- Verify patient identity and select the correct patient record
- Review schedules and physician orders to register patients for the appropriate service
- Scan and verify important documents such as insurance cards, ID's, Living Wills, and POAs
- Enter patient demographic and insurance information into the electronic health record
- Explain and complete complex regulatory and compliance documents
- Adhere to all applicable privacy and compliance standards
- Collect co-payments, deposits, and outstanding balances
- Perform transactions securely during the registration process
- Greet patients and families, answer questions, and ensure they arrive to the appropriate service area at the right time
- Perform scheduling, pre-admission, and discharge duties
- Provide supervision and patient information updates to families in waiting rooms
Requirements
No specific certification or licensure required. Associate or bachelor’s degree in lieu of two years of experience preferred. Proficiency in keyboarding is required.
Qualifications
Two years of customer service and/or data entry experience preferred.
Skills
Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
