Responsibilities
- Carefully interviews patients, guarantors, relatives, or police to obtain necessary information either over the phone or in person, or from provided documentation.
- Enters all collected information into the computer system.
- Completes registration and consent forms, obtains necessary signatures, copies insurance cards and IDs, produces labels and arm bands, and distributes documents to designated areas.
- Verifies insurance benefits and obtains necessary prior approvals, then informs patients about scheduled procedures, times, and dates.
- Schedules patients in the Meditech CWS module according to departmental guidelines, providing pre-procedure instructions as needed.
- Quotes flat rate amounts to physicians and patients, including anesthesia rates, and processes death certificates and release of remains.
- Notifies transporters to pick up patients and informs the Nursing Supervisor of inpatient admissions, obtaining bed assignments.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and regulatory agencies, including maintaining patient confidentiality.
Requirements
- At least one year of relevant experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to type 40 words per minute.
- Experience on the Meditech system is preferred.
