Patient Access Representative

Location: Barnabas Health Medical Group, Academic Access Center – 95 Old Short Hills Road, West Orange, NJ 07052

Status: Full-Time, Hourly – Day shift with rotating weekends and holidays

Pay Range: $21.07 - $26.22 per hour

About the Role

The Patient Access Representative plays a key role in the health system by providing excellent customer service, ensuring timely throughput, and capturing all necessary data accurately. This position is responsible for greeting all patients in a timely and friendly manner, treating all customers with the highest level of respect, and maintaining a safe and secure environment during the registration process.

Responsibilities

• Collect and document patient demographic and insurance information accurately and thoroughly.
• Utilize available technology to complete patient registration.
• Collect co-payments, issue receipts, and reconcile daily cash within the PFS Department.
• Directly collect payments from patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned; responsibilities may change with or without notice.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (required).
• Customer service experience (preferred).
• Patient Access experience (preferred).
• Knowledge of registration processes, Non-Federal and Federal billing regulations, and state programs such as Charity Care.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and computer skills.
