Patient Access Representative
About the role
The Patient Access Representative plays a crucial role in facilitating patients' entry into Mercy facilities. They are responsible for scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance, including pre-visit collection.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and register patients for appointments and procedures
- Verify patient insurance benefits and assist with pre-certification
- Handle financial clearance and pre-visit collections
- Ensure accurate patient data is entered into the patient record
- Work with insurance carriers and comply with Medicare guidelines and federal/state regulations
Requirements
- 1-3 years of clerical experience preferred
- Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred
- High School diploma required, some college helpful
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication and telephone etiquette
- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
- Knowledgeable with various computer systems and proficient in using a 10-key calculator and computer keyboard
