Patient Access Rep / Medical Assistant - Hepatology Clinic - Full Time - Jeff Hwy

About the role

We're seeking a dynamic Medical Assistant to join our team at Ochsner Health. Reporting to a licensed healthcare provider, you'll provide direct patient care, schedule appointments, and assist in delivering high-quality healthcare services.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to all patients, guests, and family members.
• Ensure all patient required forms are completed and gather other paperwork/documents accurately.
• Efficiently input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information; explain insurance benefits and collect payments.
• Perform vital signs and other screenings, obtaining height, weight, allergy and medication history, and other assessments.
• Prepare patients for exams, explaining procedures and answering questions.
• Schedule and reschedule appointments by phone or in person, updating necessary information.
• Adapt to specific patient populations, ensuring privacy and clear communication.
• Other related duties as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program preferred.
• Related experience in a clinic or medical office setting preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Qualifications

• Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
• Sound judgment in handling/escalating difficult situations.
