Patient Access Rep III- Admitting (Full-Time, Temporary, Days)

Position Summary

The Patient Access Representative III is assigned to the Emergency Department and is responsible to accurately collect and analyze all required demographic, insurance, financial and clinical data elements necessary to register patients presenting for treatment. The Incumbent is responsible for the provision of routine and advanced level patient access activities to facilitate efficient operations, expeditious reimbursement and optimal consumer satisfaction and to promote teamwork.

Education / Training / Experience

• Minimum of one of the following: Competency as Patient Access Representative I or II at Enloe Medical Center
• 6 months in a hospital patient registration position
• 2 years patient registration experience in a doctor’s office or medical setting

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

• Interface with all levels of personnel within the hospital or clinic setting
• Excellent customer service skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)
• Positive, professional and effective interpersonal relations with patients, public, physicians, and staff
• Work in a multidisciplinary team environment
• Communicate with patients and families during time of emotional and physical stress
• Demonstrate sensitivity and compassion for the hospitalized patient and family
• Work in a fast paced environment
• Expedite registration activities to support clinical operational needs in emergent situations
• Maintain all protected patient information in strict confidence
• Maintain high ethical standards and comply with applicable State and Federal regulatory requirements
• Perform job duties in accordance with department standards
• Follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment
• Organize and prioritize assignments
• Reliable and dependable by reporting to work as scheduled
• Work under conditions of frequent interruptions and willing to be flexible and adapt to change
