About the role
We're seeking a dynamic and compassionate individual to join our team as a Patient Service Representative. Your primary responsibility will be to greet patients and guests courteously, initiate scheduling, and manage the registration and admission process. You'll also handle financial transactions and ensure patient satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Create, activate, and complete the patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission process.
- Gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information accurately.
- Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions due.
- Perform financial analysis and inform patients of their financial responsibility.
- Balance cash drawer daily, prepare deposit slips, and follow closing cash drawer process.
- Demonstrate respect and cooperation in all staff relationships and resolve conflicts.
- Adapt to different patient populations and maintain a professional demeanor.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a front-line registration or revenue cycle role.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, with an associate’s degree being a plus.
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and healthcare-specific software.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle high-stress situations.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry and information retrieval.
- Knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits, referral and authorization processes, and relevant regulations.
