Patient Access / Registration FT

Employment Type: Full time, Day Shift

Orientation is 2 weeks on day shift Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.

About the Role

The Patient Access Representative is responsible for pre-registration, registration, and admission functions for Mercy Medical Center’s Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance requirements
• Handle upfront collections, co-pays, and high deductibles
• Ensure accurate entries concerning demographic, financial, and advanced directives
• Collect non-covered fees
• Input data into Meditech system
• Complete all phases of the registration process, including paperwork, patient bracelet, patient rights, and Health Care Proxy information
• Coordinate bed assignment for all patients
• Maintain death books and release information to funeral homes

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; college preferred
• Medical terminology skills
• Relevant experience in medical office, hospital/physician billing, or patient registration preferred
• Excellent customer service, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills

Schedule

32 hours per week: 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, every other weekend, and 4 days per week. Differentials apply.

Pay

Pay range: $17.50–$24.00 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
