About the role
The Patient Access Medical Assistant I position involves handling a high volume of inbound and outbound calls, faxes, and other communications related to patient access services. The role includes registering patients, scheduling appointments, updating insurance information, assisting with general questions, and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers.
Responsibilities
- Patient Registration: Registers patients, schedules appointments, and updates patient registration.
- Resolving System Red Flags: Identifies and resolves any system issues encountered.
- Insurance Information Management: Identifies accepted insurance plans, obtains and updates insurance information as needed.
- Communication Support: Assists patients with general questions, responds to calls and faxes, and coordinates care.
- EHR Documentation: Accesses and communicates in EHR systems, manages EHR in-baskets, and processes My Health messages.
- Other Duties: Performs other tasks as assigned, adhering to safety and compliance policies.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
- Medical Assistant Diploma from an Approved School/Institution or Equivalent Training
- 1 Year of Patient Care Experience in a Medical Office
- 1 Year of Call Center Experience Preferred
- Strong Verbal/Written Communication and Listening Skills
- Legible Handwriting
- Ability to Maintain Composure During Challenging Interactions
- Basic Math and Computer Skills
