About the role

The incumbent will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments (diagnostic, surgical, therapy, physician office visits, and other procedures/treatments).

Responsibilities

  • Obtains and verifies necessary demographic and insurance information.
  • Schedules patients and enters data into scheduling system.
  • Works in a call center type environment and meets individual quality metrics.
  • Supports go lives and departmental initiatives, including onboarding and training team members.
  • Participates in departmental committees/champion opportunities.
  • Practices the Baptist Health philosophy of service excellence in providing professional, compassionate and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians and community members.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year Patient Access experience and has demonstrated the ability to independently perform all functions within the Level 1 job description.
  • Maintains a positive attitude, is self-motivated, and encourages others.
  • Identified as a team player and cross-trained in multiple areas/product lines/practices to substitute all staff positions as needed.

Qualifications

  • For internal staff: High School, Cert, GED, Trn, Exper.
  • For external staff: Associates Degree preferred with 1 year Patient Access experience, or 2 years experience in lieu of degree.
  • Complete and pass the Patient Access training course.
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, team player, compassionate, excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Bilingual English, Spanish/Creole preferred.

Skills

  • Healthcare regulatory guidelines knowledge (HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, and Medicare coverage structure including medical necessity compliance guidelines, etc.)
  • Understanding of insurance contracts and scheduling guidelines/protocols
  • Microsoft Office products and knowledge of EMR applications
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
