Essential Responsibilities

  • Counsels patients, guarantors, and family members about their financial responsibilities.
  • Validates patient demographic data, identifies and verifies medical benefits, and accurate plan codes.
  • Corrects and updates necessary data to ensure timely and accurate bill submissions.
  • Verifies insurance information through payor contacts, online resources, or electronic verification systems.
  • Identifies and documents payor authorization and referral requirements.
  • Follows up with physician offices, case management departments, and payors regarding authorization and referral issues.
  • Calculates patient financial responsibilities, collects liabilities, and handles post-payment transactions.
  • Escalates accounts with complex liability calculations to Financial Counselors.
  • Provides a positive patient experience by maintaining excellent working relationships with patients, AHN leadership, staff, and external agencies.
  • Communicates effectively with designated contacts to exchange information and promote working relationships.

Qualifications

  • High School/GED equivalent
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Experience operating a PC and using software applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree
  • Call center experience in healthcare revenue cycle, preferably within a financial clearance setting
