Patient Access Coordinator I-Pediatric Institute-Part-time

About the role

This role supports Allegheny Health Network's pediatric expansion. Schedules rotate Monday-Saturday from 7am-8pm.

Responsibilities

• Completes scheduling, preregistration, financial clearance, authorization, and referral validation.
• Validates patient demographic data, identifies and verifies medical benefits, and corrects and updates necessary data.
• Verifies insurance information through payor contacts, identifies payor authorization/referral requirements, and follows up with physician offices and payors.
• Identifies patient financial responsibilities, calculates estimates, collects liabilities, and performs daily reconciliation.
• Delivers a positive patient experience, cooperates with AHN leadership and staff, and communicates with designated contacts.
• Maintains productivity standards and recommends innovative approaches for enhancing performance and productivity.
• Adheres to AHN organizational policies and procedures.
• Completes and attends mandatory training and education sessions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One year of related experience, preferably within a medical setting, financial services setting, and/or a demanding customer service environment.
• Medical terminology and obtaining insurance verifications.
• Call/Service Center experience.
