Patient Access Coordinator
Retina Consultants of Texas (RCTX) is seeking a Patient Access Coordinator to join our innovative team with the mission of Fighting Blindness For The World To See. This position supports our San Antonio Clinics in a fast-paced environment, requiring travel to various clinic locations to meet patient and provider needs. Clinic hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30am–6:30pm, with schedules provided weekly based on provider, patient, and surgery needs. Weekend hours may be available.

Responsibilities
- Greet patients professionally and compassionately to set a positive tone for their visit.
- Facilitate internal communications across multiple platforms to ensure efficient appointment flow.
- Maintain and update patient information in multiple databases following management procedures.
- Identify patient financial responsibilities, calculate estimates, collect liabilities, post payments, and perform daily reconciliation.
- Confirm authorizations or referrals for drug approvals.
- Handle self-pay accounts and complex liability calculations.
- Provide timely and professional information to patients, physicians, and staff; relay pertinent details to appropriate team members.
- Prepare patients for appointments by ensuring completion of intake forms, financial obligations, referrals, and authorizations.
- Maintain tidiness of the lobby and public spaces.
- Follow opening/closing procedures, including cash handling and adherence to management policies.
- Promote effective working relationships to support departmental goals.
- Perform duties in compliance with HIPAA regulations, maintaining confidentiality of all patient, staff, and physician information.
- Manage clerical supply inventory and reorder as needed.
- Report safety concerns promptly to leadership.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma.
- Experience: Medical office experience preferred.
- Physical Abilities: Sedentary position with occasional movement throughout the clinic.
- Skills/Competencies:
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and how to read EOBs.
- Basic typing and mathematical skills (addition/subtraction).
- Computer experience: proficiency in multiple systems, Microsoft Outlook, and Teams.
- Working knowledge of insurance terminology preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.

Pay
$18.00+ per hour, eligible for overtime.
