About the role
The Patient Access Coordinator (PAC) works as part of the Clinical Office Team, preparing patients for clinical visits and ensuring their accounts are accurately processed.
Responsibilities
- Process patient registration and assist with administrative needs.
- Schedule patients appropriately and ensure they are seen by the right provider.
- Provide training on AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You).
- Maintain a positive patient experience and provide patient education materials.
- Ensure all data is collected and follow-up appointments are made.
- Handle patient collections and provide explanations for unpaid balances.
- Verify patient insurance and ensure all required documents are submitted.
- Communicate with patients regarding insurance verification and missing information.
- Report patient concerns to the supervisor and communicate with medical assistants and other clinical staff.
- Ensure ongoing communication with the department and follow departmental protocols.
- Work flexible hours to cover operator coverage as assigned.
- Respond to patient inquiries and return messages in a timely manner.
- Comply with departmental policies and assist in the development of new policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 6 months experience in a healthcare setting.
- Experience with practice management systems and online eligibility verification systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Spanish speaking or another language is a plus.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and data entry skills.
