About the Role

The Assistant Manager, Patient Access oversees daily operations of the Patient Access team to ensure accurate registration, financial intake, service standards compliance, and an exceptional patient experience across the system.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily Patient Access operations, staffing, productivity, and service standards compliance.
  • Keep the Patient Access Manager and Director informed of Service Standard goals, performance evaluations, disciplinary issues, and other related statistical data or issues involving the Patient Access team.
  • Complete regular quality audits on the Patient Access team to ensure accurate patient registration, insurance verification, documentation, and charge entry.
  • Lead point-of-service collections and support patient financial discussions.
  • Prepare work schedules, coordinate/assign daily duties to staff, and ensure compliance with attendance guidelines and accurate timecard records.
  • Coordinate all necessary training for the Patient Access team, provide coaching, and ensure timely completion of performance evaluations.
  • Conduct quality audits, monitor trends, and implement process improvements.
  • Coordinate with Nursing, Scheduling, and Revenue Cycle teams to support patient flow.
  • Maintain up-to-date Patient Access SOPs and recommend/document process improvements for maximum efficiency.
  • Participate in a rotational on-call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
  • Attend all mandatory educational, compliance, and safety program sessions.
  • Demonstrate a patient-centered mindset by interacting with patients/customers in a friendly, caring, and attentive manner, ensuring a secure and pleasant experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years of healthcare, billing, or revenue cycle experience.
  • Preferred: Supervisory experience and medical terminology knowledge.

Physical Requirements
