Schedule
Part-time nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 2 shifts per week including weekend rotation.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients with a smile, answer phones, and perform general clerical duties while maintaining a pleasant, professional demeanor.
- Perform registration functions, including updating demographics, verifying insurance, collecting point-of-service payments, and documenting registration information in an electronic system.
- Confirm accounts have accurate information to ensure clean billing.
- Perform visit closure activities, including collecting payments and any necessary follow-up.
- Provide high-level customer service to patients and families during registration and wayfinding.
- Check patients in and out, verify insurance eligibility and benefits using online systems or direct contact with payers.
- Collect copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles.
- Assist with clerical duties such as copying, scanning, faxing, and maintaining patient files.
- Answer and screen phone calls, direct messages, and provide callers with company information (e.g., address, directions, fax numbers, website).
- Ensure all paperwork is filled out correctly and maintain a clean front desk, waiting room, and children’s play area.
- Maintain a clean work environment, including tasks often reserved for housekeeping (e.g., emptying trash, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning counters).
- Foster a friendly, respectful, and customer-focused work environment to encourage patient retention.
- Follow all HIPAA policies and procedures, as well as company policies.
Requirements
- Minimum typing speed of 50 WPM.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 6 months of work experience in a healthcare setting or 1 year of customer service experience.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Basic understanding of insurance, medical terminology, and billing codes (e.g., DRG, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) preferred.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and correspondence.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and manage standardized situations.
- Ability to work independently, self-directed, and with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, including conflict management and knowing when to seek supervisor assistance.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize demands effectively.
- Familiarity with general office equipment (telephones, photocopiers, scanners, credit card machines, fax).
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Solid work history.
Physical Demands
