About the role

The Patient Access Advocate is responsible for various administrative and clerical duties in a healthcare setting, ensuring a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients with a smile and answer the phone
  • Enter information into the electronic health record and database
  • Update demographics and verify insurance
  • Collect payments and document registration information
  • Confirm account accuracy for clean billing
  • Perform visit closure activities including collecting payment and follow-up activities
  • Provide wayfinding and customer service
  • Manage patient files and perform clerical duties
  • Answer and screen phone calls, take messages, and provide information
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the front desk, waiting room, and children's play area
  • Follow HIPAA policies and procedures
  • Follow company policies

Requirements

  • Minimum typing speed of 50 wpm
  • Flexibility and effective communication skills
  • Collaboration skills and patient/client focus
  • Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months of work experience in healthcare setting or one year in customer service
  • Basic understanding of insurance and medical terminology/billing codes
  • Exceptional communication skills and customer service
  • Basic math skills and ability to apply common sense
  • Ability to manage conflict and request help from a supervisor when needed
  • Ability to prioritize multiple demands and meet productivity standards
  • Attend staff meetings and huddles as required
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Standing, walking, use of hands, reaching, sitting, talking, and listening
  • Lifting up to 10 pounds
  • No special vision requirements
  • Work independently and self-direct
  • Work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Manage conflict and request help from a supervisor when needed
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
