Pathways Discover Internship Program
About the role
The USGA is a mission‑based golf organization that unifies the golf community through handicapping and grassroots programs, showcases the game’s best talent via the U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open and 13 other national championships, provides unbiased global governance with The R&A, and advances sustainability, accessibility and inclusion. As part of its effort to foster a more inclusive game, the USGA annually hires students for the Pathways Discover Program at the U.S. Open Championship. This 10‑day internship, held during the 2027 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, California (June 11‑21, 2027), aims to expose college and graduate students from underrepresented backgrounds to the multitude of career pathways in golf through behind‑the‑scenes experiences, career‑development sessions, networking with industry leaders, and hands‑on training. The program includes leadership and corporate‑world sessions, industry panels, community‑impact projects, professional networking, on‑the‑job training/shadowing, and a case‑study pitch competition. Applications are accepted from August 31, 2026 through December 4, 2026; completed applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with virtual interviews for finalists and offers extended by Friday, March 12, 2027. As part of the application, candidates answer eight open‑ended questions designed to reveal their authentic thoughts and experiences (AI‑generated answers are discouraged).
