About the Role

The Department of Pathology is seeking an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. to join the Transfusion Medicine Division at Montefiore Medical Center and affiliate hospitals. Candidates must be board certified in CP or AP/CP and in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver complex transfusion consultations, oversee apheresis procedures, and provide support for complex coagulation conditions.
  • Provide on-call and service coverage.
  • Participate in the teaching of medical students and residents, as well as in departmental conferences and grand rounds.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, as well as accreditation requirements.
  • Support and enhance patient blood management initiatives.
  • Collaborate with institutional leadership, physician colleagues, and nursing teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in transfusion-related quality initiatives and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • MD/DO
  • Board Certification in Transfusion Medicine
  • NYS medical license
  • NYS CoQ in transfusion services and immunohematology
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

About Montefiore

Montefiore Medical Center is a university-affiliated health care system serving the Bronx, Rockland, Orange and Westchester County and includes the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein (CHAM). The Division of Transfusion Medicine supports a broad range of MMC specialty services, including hematology and medical oncology, obstetrics and women’s health, bone marrow stem cell transplantation/cell therapy, solid organ transplantation, and a large comprehensive sickle cell disease program. Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain New York State Certificates of Qualification for Medical Directorship. Academic appointment to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine is commensurate with credentials and experience.

Pay

Annual salary is in the range of $250,000–$375,000 and is dependent on years of experience.
