Job Summary

HCA Healthcare Pathology Services and their North Florida Division is seeking a general staff pathologist based at HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital in Fort Walton Beach, FL. HCA Healthcare is a leading provider of healthcare services with over 185 hospitals and 2,400 sites of care across 20 states and the United Kingdom.

About the Role

Pathology Services consists of over 200 board-certified multispecialty pathologists who provide professional services to over 100 HCA Healthcare-owned hospitals and commercial clients. Our mission is to deliver quality-driven, evidence-based, and value-based pathology services in a timely and cost-effective manner for all our patients and clients. Qualified candidates must be American board-certified in general surgical pathology and comfortable working in a community hospital setting. They should also possess excellent interpersonal and team-building skills and be licensed to practice medicine in Florida.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose complex and challenging cases in general surgical pathology
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate and timely diagnoses
  • Contribute to research and development initiatives within the pathology department
  • Participate in continuing medical education and professional development opportunities

Requirements

  • American board certification in general surgical pathology
  • Comfortable with the full scope of general surgical pathology for a community hospital practice
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills
  • Must have or be eligible for medical licensure in Florida

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology residency program
  • Current medical license in Florida

309-bed HCA Level 2 Trauma facility

  • Medical ICU - 33 beds (plus an additional 8 CVICU beds)
  • Stealth navigation system with O-arm and Mazor spine robot

  • Currently hosting 3rd and 4th year D.O. students from Auburn’s VCOM (D.O.) School
  • Internal medicine residency program beginning in 2024
