Pathologists' Assistant
Summary
Provides services in anatomic pathology under the direction of Pathologist. Responsibilities include grossing surgical pathology specimens, performing frozen sections, aiding attending pathologists, obtaining clinical information, and maintaining patient confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Grosses simple, non-complicated and complex surgical pathology specimens, including dermatology specimens.
- Performs frozen sections and provides coverage and support as needed.
- Aids attending pathologists.
- Obtains pertinent clinical information and history.
- Maintains Patient Confidentiality by following HIPAA guidelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited Pathology Assistant Program.
- Pathologists' Assistant Board Certified or exam eligible with the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
