Pathologist's Assistant

About the role

The Pathology Assistant is responsible for providing accurate and timely processing of a variety of laboratory specimens, including comprehensive macroscopic examination and evaluation of all surgical pathological specimens.

Responsibilities

• Perform gross description and dissections to include all surgical specimen complexity.
• No autopsies, PA students, or residents.
• Cover weekday frozen section service (average 2-3 per week).
• Collaborate with pathologists, surgeons, and anatomic pathology laboratory personnel.
• Operate gross room equipment/software such as Epic Beaker, Dragon DMO, Stryker Bone Saw, PathStation camera (gross photography), Mikroscan slide scanner, and 2 Mopec grossing stations.

Requirements

• Graduate of a NAACLS accredited Master’s degree Pathologists’ Assistant program.
• Pathologists’ Assistant ASCP certification.
• Prior experience is preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply!
