Job Summary and Responsibilities

Your precision and attention to detail will be vital to diagnostic accuracy. Every day, you will meticulously prepare and process surgical specimens, working under the direct supervision and responsibility of a pathologist. This involves conducting thorough examinations to ensure that specimens are ready for further analysis, contributing directly to patient diagnoses.

• Conducts gross examination and dissection of surgical and autopsy specimens under the direct or indirect supervision of a pathologist.
• Obtains and reviews pertinent clinical information and history, including imaging studies, laboratory, and operative records.
• Reviews cases and history with surgeons, clinicians, and pathologists, as required.
• Collaborates with histology technicians to meet reporting turn-around time goals by ensuring prompt specimen receipts, accessioning, and processing of submitted pathology specimens.
• Performs frozen sectioning processing and assists intraoperative consultations per department standards.
• Obtains samples for research and other ancillary studies. Ensures proper specimen handling and fixation prior to processing.

Job Requirements

• Required:
• Bachelor's of Science with a curriculum qualifying for high complexity testing
• Under CLIA
• 3 years clinical experience
• Completion of HSS approved clinical laboratory training program or >3 months documented training in the specialty in which the high complexity testing is performed
• Preferred:
• Other Pathology Assistant, upon hire

Pay Range

$45.26 - $67.32 /hour
