SUMMARY
Leads tank welders on Path Robotics projects as well as welds metal components together using a variety of arc welding processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees and leads welders within the Path Robotic welding group.
- Communicates with Weld Supervisor and Weld Manager.
- Reports information on employee progress and issues for ongoing performance evaluations.
- Prepares workload for the welders.
- Uses GMAW-P, GMAW-S, and GTAW to weld weldments, tanks, and metal parts together per the weld process specification sheet.
- Reads and understands American and European blueprints, geometrical call outs, and weld symbols.
- Evaluates all processes within area of responsibility for ways to improve in quality, tooling usage, and run times.
- Welds complicated weldments where alignments, dimensional, and weld quality must conform.
- Uses weld fixtures, gauges, and jigs when applicable.
- Performs welding on a wide variety of metals and alloys, including carbon steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Aids in creating work instructions.
- Completes first piece, in process, and final inspections using calipers, height gauges, protractors, and tape measures.
- Pressure tests fuel tanks.
- Cleans and organizes work area.
QUALIFICATIONS
- One-year Technical Diploma; three to five years related experience and/or training and a High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Qualification per WWI-102.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees and leads welders in the Power Products division.
- Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Reports any problems and issues that arise to the Weld Supervisor and/or Fabrication Manager.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- One-year Technical Diploma; three to five years related experience and/or training and a High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Talk or hear.
- Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
