About the role

At CMS we pride ourselves on providing industry leading training, guidance, support and variety of workload to ensure our paralegals are in the best possible environment to learn and develop. The aim for all of our patent paralegal team is to become “full service”, with technical knowledge extended across the whole range of patent prosecution activities and related support.

There are opportunities to tackle a wide range of tasks across all of our clients, from European, PCT and United Kingdom applications to handling foreign patents, assignments and helping to design client processes. Teamwork and communication are a huge part of making our working model efficient and high performing. Paralegal feedback is encouraged, reviewed and, where we see value, is implemented into our process refinements. The successful candidate can therefore look forward to really being a part of shaping how we operate in the future. We believe that the team’s ideas and feedback are fundamental to us continually moving forward in the best way possible.

Responsibilities

  • Work on European, PCT and United Kingdom patent applications
  • Handle foreign patents and assignments
  • Assist in designing client processes
  • Provide feedback to refine team processes

Requirements

  • Experience in patents, at least to the level of the Introductory Certificate in Patent Administration from CIPA
  • Eagerness to learn and develop
  • Scrupulous attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a dynamic environment
  • Willingness to go the extra mile when required
  • Ability to work and interact well within a busy team environment

This is a 12-month fixed term contract based in our London office.
