Patent Paralegal

LegalFull-time
We need to output HTML fragment with sections: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. Only include sections that have real specific content. We must not repeat job title. Must not include Job ID etc. Must remove boilerplate, navigation, EEO, etc. Must preserve all substantive info. We need to parse the posting. Key info: - Location: 100% onsite in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Relocation assistance not provided. - Overview: description of ORNL. - Role: Patent Paralegal. - Major Duties/Responsibilities: list of duties. - Basic Qualifications: list. - Preferred Qualifications: list. - Special Requirements: Visa sponsorship not available; security, credentialing, eligibility requirements (Real ID, PIV, background check, etc.) - About ORNL: description of lab, benefits, etc. - Benefits: list of benefits (medical, retirement, etc.) - Pay: not explicitly mentioned; only says "ORNL offers competitive pay and benefits programs". No specific pay figure. According to rules, we should not create Pay section unless posting actually states them. It says competitive pay but no specifics; that's vague. Likely we should not include Pay section because it's not specific. The rule: never emit a heading followed by filler/placeholder text (e.g., "commensurate with experience", "not specified", "N/A", "varies", "TBD") and never create Pay/Schedule/Benefits sections unless the posting actually states them. "Competitive pay" is vague but maybe considered filler? It's not a specific number. I'd treat as not specific enough, so omit Pay section. - Schedule: Not mentioned besides 100% onsite. No schedule details like full-time, hours. Could infer full-time but not explicit. Probably omit Schedule. - Benefits: we have a list of benefits. So include Benefits section. - About the role: we have overview and description of role. Could put in About the role section. - Responsibilities: list of duties. - Requirements: could combine Basic Qualifications and Special Requirements? The rule: Use headings for section headings (About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). We need to decide what goes where. We have Basic Qualifications, Preferred Qualifications, Special Requirements. Could map: - Requirements: Basic Qualifications (mandatory). Could also include Special Requirements (visa, security). Might be better to put Special Requirements under Requirements as well. - Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications. - Skills: maybe list of skills from Basic Qualifications (MS Office proficiency, communication, etc.) Could be separate Skills section. But we must not invent sections; we can include them if we have content. The instruction: "Prefer a few substantive sections over many thin ones." So we could combine. We need to preserve all substantive information. So we need to include all details. Let's plan sections:

About the role

: include overview of ORNL and role description (the paragraph about Patent Paralegal providing support). Could also include location and onsite.

Responsibilities

: list of duties.

Requirements

: Basic Qualifications + Special Requirements (visa not available, security, Real ID, PIV, background check, drug declaration). Could also include "Ability to work occasional overtime and to travel." That's more a requirement.

Qualifications

: Preferred Qualifications (patent paralegal experience, paralegal certification, familiarity with Anaqua, willingness to learn, etc.)

Skills

: maybe list of skills like MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint proficiency, interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, analytical, teamwork, work ethic, organizational, time management, punctuality, reliability, ability to follow directions, ask questions, document management, etc. Could be derived from Basic Qualifications. But we might avoid duplication: if we put skills in Requirements, we might not need separate Skills. However we have a heading for Skills; we could include it if we have specific skill list. The posting includes many skill-like items. Might be better to have Skills section. But we need to avoid thin sections. If we put many items, it's substantive. Benefits: list. Pay: omit. Schedule: omit. Now ensure we don't include boilerplate: remove EEO, equal opportunity, scam warning, navigation, cookie, legal, etc. Also remove "This position will remain open for a minimum of 5 days..." etc. Also remove "We accept Word (.doc, .docx)..." etc. Also remove "If you have trouble applying..." etc. Also remove "ORNL is an equal opportunity employer..." etc. Also remove "UT-Battelle is an E-Verify employer." Also remove "About ORNL" paragraph that is more generic? Actually we need to keep substantive info about ORNL (mission, size, benefits). The "About ORNL" paragraph includes description of lab, legacy, team size, goal, benefits, amenities. That's substantive; we can include in About the role or maybe a separate section but we only have allowed headings. Could incorporate into About the role. We must not repeat job title as heading. Now produce HTML fragment. Let's draft:

We need to ensure we didn't include any boilerplate like "ORNL is an equal opportunity employer" etc. We removed. Check for any leftover boilerplate: The responsibilities list includes "Promote equal opportunity by fostering a respectful workplace." That is from the posting; it's substantive? It's a statement about equal opportunity. Might be considered EEO boilerplate but it's part of responsibilities. The instruction: "Remove cookie/navigation/legal/EEO/equal-opportunity/scam-warning boilerplate". That line is about equal opportunity; could be considered EEO boilerplate. However it's within responsibilities; maybe we should remove it. The instruction says remove EEO/equal-opportunity boilerplate. So we should remove that line. Also "Promote equal opportunity by fostering a respectful workplace – in how we treat one another, work together, and measure success." That's definitely EEO. Remove. Also "Deliver ORNL’s mission by aligning behaviors, priorities, and interactions with our core values of Impact, Integrity, Teamwork, Safety, and Service." That's okay; it's about core values. Now check responsibilities list: we have that line; we should remove it. Also check "About the role" paragraph: we included "Promote equal opportunity by fostering a respectful workplace." Actually we didn't include that; we included only the overview. Good. Now check "Requirements": we have "Maintain strong commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of values and ethics." That's fine. Check "Benefits": we listed "Relocation Assistance (note: not
