Patent Litigation Associate
About the role
The offices of McGuireWoods are seeking a Junior or Mid‑Level Associate for the Patent Litigation Team. McGuireWoods’ intellectual property lawyers help clients develop, protect, and leverage commercially valuable ideas and information—including patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, and other creative assets—to advance business goals. The firm’s intellectual property practice is consistently ranked top‑tier by Chambers USA and U.S. News – Best Lawyers, and many lawyers receive individual honors.
Clients describe the team as “phenomenal,” “intelligent, thoughtful and creative,” and “top‑notch litigators” who “find a solution when others cannot.” The practice is regularly sought out by industry publications such as Corporate Counsel, E‑Commerce Times, and Law360 for insights on patent litigation and related developments.
The team provides comprehensive, sophisticated patent litigation solutions—both offensive and defensive—in competitor‑vs‑competitor matters and in defenses against lawsuits brought by non‑practicing entities. Lawyers on the team often hold advanced degrees in engineering and the sciences, enabling rapid understanding of client technology. Clients span virtually every sector of the global economy, including telecommunications, computer software and hardware, financial institutions, and manufacturing.
