Key Responsibilities
- Review correspondence from the USPTO and foreign associates to identify and calendar patent prosecution deadlines
- Maintain and update patent docketing systems with accurate and timely information
- Enter and track new patent applications, filings, responses, and prosecution activities
- Docket key filing dates, statutory deadlines, and bar dates based on new matter intake and incoming correspondence
- Monitor docket workflows to ensure timely completion of prosecution activities and compliance with filing deadlines
- Identify, investigate, and escalate docket discrepancies or deadline issues as appropriate
- Maintain organized electronic records and ensure accurate document management within docketing systems
- Stay current on U.S. and international patent rules, procedures, and regulatory changes
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to improve docketing processes and operational efficiency
- Provide responsive support to internal and external stakeholders on docketing and deadline-related matters
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Prior experience in IP docketing, patent prosecution, or intellectual property legal support preferred
- Strong knowledge of USPTO rules, patent prosecution procedures, and U.S. and international patent deadlines
- Experience with patent docketing software, such as CPI or similar systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Flexibility to work additional hours as needed
- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving patent prosecution processes
