Responsibilities
- Prepare, draft, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications across a variety of technical disciplines.
- Develop and manage strategic patent portfolios aligned with clients' business objectives.
- Partner with inventors, engineers, scientists, and business stakeholders to identify and protect new innovations.
- Conduct invention disclosure reviews, patentability assessments, and freedom-to-operate analyses.
- Provide strategic counseling on patent prosecution, portfolio development, licensing, and intellectual property risk.
- Collaborate with outside counsel and foreign associates on global patent prosecution matters.
- Support technology commercialization, licensing, and innovation initiatives.
- Stay current on developments in patent law and emerging technologies affecting clients' businesses.
Qualifications
- 6–15+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license to practice law.
- Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Strong patent drafting and prosecution experience in one or more of the following technical areas: Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science / Software, Artificial Intelligence, Energy Storage & Battery Technologies, Electrical Engineering, Life Sciences.
- Excellent written communication and technical drafting skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional business and technical teams.
