Patent Agent or Attorney
Responsibilities
- Draft, file, and prosecute US patent applications.
- Manage and coordinate international patent application strategies.
- Prepare patentability, non-infringement, and invalidity opinions.
- Provide overall intellectual property counseling.
Qualifications
- Admitted to the Bar in the jurisdiction where the candidate is applying and in good standing.
- Registered and in good standing to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
- An undergraduate degree and preferably also an advanced degree in biochemistry, biology, or related field.
- At least three years of experience practicing patent law and proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively on complex matters.
- Experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and judgement are essential.
- Proven ability to independently manage a case and move it forward, but also to work in a collaborative team environment.
- A self-starter with the ability to prioritize workload; display good judgment and work well under pressure.
Professional Qualifications
- Admitted to the Bar in the jurisdiction where the candidate is applying and must be in good standing.
- Must be registered and in good standing to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
- Candidates should possess an undergraduate degree and preferably also an advanced degree in biochemistry, biology or related field.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $190,000 to $240,000 per year, depending on skills and experience.
