Patent Agent or Attorney

Responsibilities

• Draft, file, and prosecute US patent applications.
• Manage and coordinate international patent application strategies.
• Prepare patentability, non-infringement, and invalidity opinions.
• Provide overall intellectual property counseling.

Qualifications

• Admitted to the Bar in the jurisdiction where the candidate is applying and in good standing.
• Registered and in good standing to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• An undergraduate degree and preferably also an advanced degree in biochemistry, biology, or related field.
• At least three years of experience practicing patent law and proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively on complex matters.
• Experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
• Excellent communication (written and oral) and judgement are essential.
• Proven ability to independently manage a case and move it forward, but also to work in a collaborative team environment.
• A self-starter with the ability to prioritize workload; display good judgment and work well under pressure.

Professional Qualifications

• Admitted to the Bar in the jurisdiction where the candidate is applying and must be in good standing.
• Must be registered and in good standing to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• Candidates should possess an undergraduate degree and preferably also an advanced degree in biochemistry, biology or related field.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $190,000 to $240,000 per year, depending on skills and experience.
