Patent Agent
The Patent Agent/Junior IP Counsel at SCIEX is responsible for:
- Partnering with Research Scientists and Engineers
- Working with the Intellectual Property (IP) Legal team
- Building and managing the SCIEX patent portfolio
- Advising on freedom to operate and landscape analyses
- Supporting new development projects
About the role
SCIEX is a Danaher operating company dedicated to empowering life science experts with innovative solutions. The Patent Agent/Junior IP Counsel will work closely with R&D teams to address IP issues, focusing on invention mining, patentability, and prosecution.
Responsibilities
- Align IP strategies with business and strategic plans
- Build IP awareness, culture, and standard work at SCIEX
- Lead outside counsel in patent application preparation and prosecution
- Provide educational presentations and training on IP matters
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics
- Registered patent agent in Canada and/or U.S.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Patent Agent/Junior Counsel
- Experience in partnership with stakeholders and communication of complex IP issues
- Proactive and strategic approach to project execution

Pay and Schedule
The annual salary range for this role is $134,333 - $148,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
