PATCHSTACK: SENIOR BACKEND DEVELOPER (PHP/LARAVEL)

About the role

Patchstack is looking for a Senior Backend Developer with a personal interest in web security to help build modern web-based PHP applications using Laravel. This is a full-time, remote role for candidates located in EEST +/- 2 hours.

What we do

• Provide a SaaS solution to detect and virtually patch plugin vulnerabilities.
• Run a community-driven bug bounty platform (Patchstack Alliance) to nurture a community of independent security researchers behind the WordPress ecosystem.
• Maintain an open and free WordPress vulnerability database.
• Provide professional code review and security auditing to WordPress plugins.

Responsibilities

• Develop web-based PHP applications using Laravel.
• Refactor existing code to meet new standards and features (PHP 8).
• Write unit tests and document features and processes.
• Coordinate with other members of the team and communicate on the status of your tasks.

Requirements

• Timezone: EEST (+/- 2 hours).
• Extensive experience with PHP and Laravel.
• Familiarity with tools such as PHPCS and PHPStan.
• Good understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• SQL and the ability to write performant queries.
• SQL schema design and normalization.
• Understanding of MVC frameworks and SPA.
• Version control such as Git.
• Ability to write clean, reusable code with a focus on security and performance.
• Fluent English in both speaking and writing.
• Outstanding communication skills.

Nice to have

• Good understanding of Vue.js, NuxtJS, AWS, or Python.
• Previous experience working as a developer.
• Previous experience working in a remote team.
• Knowledge about WordPress and other PHP-based content management systems.
• Industry certifications.
