About the role
The Pastry Decorator plays a crucial role in the bakery department at Tony's Fresh Market, assisting in the preparation of fresh baked goods and supporting the team in a fast-paced environment. The position requires adherence to company values and a commitment to excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Greet and interact with customers to address their questions or concerns in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Assist the Pastry team with preparing desserts and pastries as needed.
- Take cake orders, ensure the department has fresh fruits and products, and maintain a fully stocked display case.
- Support the team with baking various breads, cookies, and desserts.
- Decorate cakes and pastries for customers using artistic skills to create beautifully decorated items.
- Effectively communicate with management and baking team to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and/or other team members.
- Conduct inventory on a regular basis to ensure proper levels.
- Maintain standards for quality, cleanliness, organization, customer service, safety, loss prevention, sanitation, department conditions, and food safety.
- Stock, fill, face, and ensure pricing accuracy while examining the rotation of all bakery products and discarding outdated or spoiled items.
- Work with various professional Bakery equipment, including heat sources, mixers, and blenders.
- Take food orders in person and by telephone.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid Food Handlers Card.
- Customer Service, pastry decorating, and retail experience desirable.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
- WALKING: Continuously, throughout shift, while moving about the store and handling merchandise.
- STANDING: Continuously, throughout shift.
- LIFTING: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Pay and Benefits
The pay scale for this position ranges from $15.00 to $19.71 per hour. Manager roles have a bonus target paid out quarterly based on company results/metrics. Individual pay within this range is determined by location and other factors including specific skills, relevant work experience, and relevant education and/or training.
