About the role

Pendry Chicago is seeking a Pastry Cook to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to create authentic, personalized experiences for our guests while fostering a collaborative and professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare high-quality food products according to menu descriptions and hotel standards
  • Restock kitchen supplies and food items, maintaining cleanliness of the area
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff for timely preparation and execution of food orders
  • Collaborate with associates to achieve production goals and ensure smooth kitchen operations
  • Create innovative new menu items and specials
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of food products, sanitation standards, and culinary techniques
  • Fulfill guest orders with skillful attention to detail
  • Deliver on guests' expectations and create WOW moments

Requirements

  • Enjoy creating pastries where appearance, colors, and taste appeal show up every time

  • Knowledge of pastry techniques and cooking methods

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
  • Collaborative in a team environment with excellent communication skills
  • Three years minimum of cooking experience in a standalone restaurant or hotel environment
  • Luxury hotel experience a plus

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and for extended periods during the shift
  • Must be able to push and pull food serving equipment and carts weighing up to 200 pounds on a semi-regular basis

Pay

The pay range for Pastry Cook I is $23.50 - 24.50 hourly. The pay scale is the base hourly range, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions, piece rates, gratuities, and the like, that Pendry reasonably expects to pay for the position.
