Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and baking pastries, breads, cookies, and desserts
  • Support daily mise en place for restaurants, banquets, and in-room dining
  • Follow recipes, portioning, and presentation standards
  • Maintain a clean and organized pastry workstation
  • Practice proper food handling, storage, and sanitation (HACCP compliant)
  • Label and rotate all food items to ensure freshness and reduce waste
  • Use kitchen tools and equipment safely and correctly
  • Assist with seasonal, holiday, and special event pastry preparation
  • Work closely with senior pastry staff to learn techniques and improve skills
  • Communicate effectively with the team to ensure smooth kitchen operations
  • Regular attendance in conformance with standards
  • May be required to work varying schedules to reflect business needs
  • Required to attend all mandatory training sessions and meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of baking and pastries
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of chocolate work (e.g., tempering)
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of sugar work (e.g., temperatures and sugar pulling)
  • Thorough knowledge of wedding cake assembly and decor
  • Outstanding management, organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays

Qualifications

  • 0–1 year of professional pastry or baking experience (internships accepted)
  • Basic understanding of pastry techniques and terminology
  • Strong desire to grow and develop professionally
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Team player with excellent attitude and work ethic

Preferred: Certificate or diploma in Culinary or Pastry Arts.
