Pastry Cook- Hourly; John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center

Job Summary

Summary: Pastry Cook is responsible for following established recipes in the preparation and cooking of menu items.

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Follows recipe including the scaling of production recipes
• Understands and performs proper cooking techniques including all moist and dry cooking methods
• Assists in the preparation of various foods in assigned workstations including but not limited to fresh produce, proteins and other pantry ingredients
• Stores and properly handles raw and prepared foods
• Cleans and sanitizes production equipment, work surfaces and kitchen station based on assigned tasks
• Prepares and handles food in a manner consistent with local health department guidelines and/or Levy standards
• Delivers exceptional service
• Acts with a sense of urgency with respect to guest and event needs.

Controls

• Maintains a safe, clean and sanitary workstation
• Employs good safety and sanitation practices in order to prevent hazards including but not limited to, slips, trips, falls and burns, and reports injuries, unsafe conditions or equipment malfunctions to management. Contacts Public Safety in the event of emergencies
• Adheres to company guidelines, policies and property rules
• Follows responsible alcohol service policies
• Thoroughly completes all responsibilities and assignments

Qualifications

• Displays a positive attitude
• Assists others when necessary and/or requested
• Possess safe and efficient knife skills
• Walks and/or stands throughout entire shift
• Lifts and transports food product, product, and other equipment for up to 50 lbs
• Pushes and pulls carts, tables, equipment and product weighing up to 250 lbs
• Reads, speaks, writes and comprehends English
