Pastry Cook

This role is located at Atlantic Fields, one of Discovery Land Company’s locations outside of Hobe Sound, FL.

Responsibilities

• Continuously create and implement new menu ideas with the Pastry Chef.
• Organize the kitchen and preparations in an efficient manner to cope with daily restaurant covers.
• Monitor inventory levels through regular inventory checks.
• Maintain all equipment and ensure it is properly handled and maintained by all culinary staff.
• Ensure the quality of all pastry items prepared in the kitchen and follow standard recipes consistently.
• Consistently check food for taste, temperature, and visual appeal.
• Ensure all dishes are uniform and adhere to established portion sizes per the specifications set by the Pastry Chef.
• Maintain continual product quality control and procedures on a daily basis.
• Minimize spoilage, waste, and overproduction with consistent procedures.
• Ensure all cleaning schedules, temperature records, opening/closing checklists are completed and recorded daily.
• Prevent the use of contaminated products in any phase of food preparation.
• Comply with all government, safety, health, and security standards at all times.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least one year of pastry cook experience in large world-class resorts, hotels, or clubs required.
• Culinary degree and pedigree preferred.
• Experience in pastry and desserts preferred.
• Knowledge of culinary and baking techniques.
• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Long hours may be required due to business demands.
• Ability to work in a team environment and stay calm during busy periods.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing and walking for over eight hours, and lifting/carrying items over fifty pounds.
• Flexibility and ability to pivot to new projects in a fast-paced environment.
