Pastor of Worship
EBC is a warm, multigenerational Southern Baptist congregation strongly committed to scripture, biblical teaching, authentic worship, intentional discipleship, and faithful outreach to our community. Our mission is to Gather to glorify God, Grow to be more like Christ, and Go make disciples. The newly renovated worship center is equipped with modern audio-visual, lighting, and camera equipment with a seating capacity of 500. Average Sunday morning worship utilizes a blended music format in both music style and presentation. Attendance is approximately 300 with services streamed on Facebook, YouTube, and the church website.
About the Role
Inspire the church body to express love for God with whole heart, soul, mind, and strength in corporate worship. Develop the worship ministry to grow participation and appreciation of the church by ministering to each other and our community through artistic communication. Create and facilitate an atmosphere in the corporate life of EBC that is conducive to responsiveness to God.
Responsibilities
- Plan corporate worship experience utilizing prayer, conceptual forethought, music appropriateness, theological sensitivity, and in consultation with the Senior Pastor.
- Lead worship in all corporate worship services and other services as necessary, including musical or dramatic productions around holidays and special occasions.
- Direct the ministry, development, and scheduling of all adult vocals (choir, praise team, ensembles) and instrumental groups which participate in the life of EBC.
- Willing to aid or be consulted in the development of any children’s or youth involvement in music at EBC (choirs, musicals, dramas, etc).
- Oversee personnel, operation, and development of the audio/visual (A/V) ministry (sound booth, production of promotional videos, updating webcasts) and recruit/train volunteers.
- Evaluate A/V and media equipment in conjunction with the A/V team.
- Oversee maintenance of the music library, materials, supplies, musical instruments, and other equipment utilized in the worship ministry.
- Formulate worship ministry annual budget to recommend to the Administrative Committee.
- Comply with established church policies/procedures in addition to all applicable federal/state laws.
- Serve as Staff Advisor for EBC ministries/committees as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
- Support the Senior Pastor as an integral member of pastoral ministries.
- Assist with pastoral care of the church/community, primarily focusing on those involved in worship ministries, maintaining a godly and cordial attitude with staff and church body.
- Select and provide appropriate music for weddings, funerals, special projects, and other church-related activities unless directed otherwise.
- Assist running audio/visual equipment for special events (weddings, funerals, etc).
- Participate in outreach/visitation ministries of the church.
- Lead/oversee other ministries of the church as pre-assigned upon hire or as assigned in the course of employment.
- Embrace the Bible as the authority for faith and practice, ensuring that all songs, speaking, and teaching related to worship are faithful to Scripture and conservative Christian theology.
- Work collaboratively with the Senior Pastor, communicating the vision for ministry that God provides.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Commitment to biblical Christian principles and teachings both in ministry and personally, maintaining a strong Christian testimony (1 Timothy 3:1-7).
- Competence in music sufficient to stretch and lead the church in both traditional and contemporary church music.
- Competence in either piano or guitar as well as vocals.
- Strong understanding of music theory.
- Ability to listen effectively and communicate clearly, both orally and written.
- Demonstrates strong public speaking skills which engage and inspire the church body.
- Leads and administers effectively across multi-platforms.
- Adept at basic computer skills utilizing software related to the office, ministry, and worship.
- Demonstrates sufficient good health to discharge duties properly.
- Passes criminal, financial, and sexual misconduct background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Instrument proficiency.
- Prior experience.
- Christian and formal music education.
