About the role

Calvary Baptist Church is a small congregation of about 50, located in the heart of Illinois. The church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and affirms The Baptist Faith & Message 2000. This is a full-time pastor position.

Qualifications

• Meets the biblical qualifications of an elder as identified in I Timothy 3:1–7
• Lives the life of a I Timothy 3:1–7 leader to the best of his ability
• Intentional about ongoing personal spiritual development
• Active member of the church

Responsibilities

• Lead with spiritual direction and leadership, partnering with deacons and ministry leaders
• Encourage involvement and development of ministries
• Assist in the overall program of the church
• Provide biblical teaching and sermons to the congregation with weekly sermons and Bible study sessions
• Counsel congregation, deacons, and ministry boards as they perform their assigned responsibilities
• Exercise church discipline
• Provide pastoral care
• Develop leaders and disciples of Jesus Christ
• Lead church involvement with the local community
• Manage the ministry staff
• Oversee the policies and procedures of the church
• Collaborate with and actively support the Southern Baptist Convention
