Position Summary
The Passivation Operator is responsible for performing passivation and clean processes on aerospace components to ensure corrosion resistance and strict conformance to internal, customer, military and NADCAP specifications. This role supports aerospace production by safely operating chemical processing equipment, accurately following work instructions, using basic computer systems to enter and review production data, and maintaining detailed process documentation in a regulated manufacturing environment. The Passivation Operator also performs corrosion resistance testing, such as salt spray and humidity testing, to verify process effectiveness and specification compliance.
Essential Skills / Certifications
- Ability to fluently read, work and follow instructions in English
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, process specifications, and job travelers/routers
- Experience in manufacturing, chemical processing, or passivation (aerospace preferred)
- Experience reading and interpreting technical documents (standards/specifications)
- Basic computer literacy, including the ability to use software for data entry and recordkeeping
- Experience with Word and Excel
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Comfortable working with chemicals and wearing required PPE, including respirators
- Follow all safety, environmental, and hazardous material handling requirements in accordance with OSHA and company policies
Desired Experience
- Knowledge of Aerospace industry standards
- Experience in a Quality environment in a related industry
- Prior experience in a Quality environment with 3rd party auditors (NADCAP)
- NDT Level I/II Certification in Magnetic Particle and Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (or desire to obtain certification)
Physical And Environmental Elements
- Works around machinery, equipment and chemicals
- Accesses, enters, and retrieves data by using a computer terminal
- Expected to stand for 8 hours
- Moves throughout the building to collect, deliver and handle production parts
- Uses protective devices such as half-face respirator, goggles, apron and gloves
