Party Chief

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Party Chief with over 2 years of experience in heavy civil construction surveying and layout. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of civil construction methods, utility installation, roadway construction, earthwork operations, and grade control. Proficiency in using machine control platforms such as Trimble, Topcon, and Leica is essential. The role requires the ability to read and interpret civil plans and digital models, and proficiency with survey software and data management systems. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are crucial, as well as the ability to work independently in fast-paced field environments. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surveying and layout for heavy civil construction projects.
• Manage and coordinate 2–3-person survey teams.
• Work on projects ranging from $300k to $30M.
• Utilize Trimble, Topcon, and Leica machine control platforms.
• Read and interpret civil plans and digital models.
• Manage survey software and data management systems.
• Build and edit surface models.
• Perform drone mapping and photogrammetry.
• Support multiple crews and projects simultaneously.
• Train operators and field crews on machine control systems.

Requirements

2+ years of experience in heavy civil construction surveying and layout.

Qualifications

• Experience building and editing surface models.
• Drone mapping and photogrammetry experience.
• Knowledge of FDOT and municipal construction tolerances.
• Ability to support multiple crews and projects simultaneously.
• Experience training operators and field crews on machine control systems.

Skills

• Strong understanding of civil construction methods, utility installation, and roadway construction.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.

Schedule

This position is onsite with a typical schedule of 7am to 3:30pm, including occasional Saturday work. Expect to work 50-60 hours a week.
