About the role
The Parts Specialist II provides counter service to VDOT employees who need parts or equipment to perform their jobs. This role assists with inventory control, data entry in inventory systems, customer service, and may occasionally drive a MANCON vehicle to pick up parts. The Parts Specialist II demonstrates proficiency at sourcing parts, mastery of procedures, and exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality customer service, including:
- Reviewing, familiarizing with, and adhering to the Product Group Catalog, Policy and Procedures Manual, MANCON’s SOPs, and Safety Manual
- Meeting and greeting customers
- Reviewing requisition forms for completeness (signatures, timestamps, part numbers, descriptions, and quantities)
- Answering questions regarding parts availability
- Asking appropriate questions to ensure correct parts are researched and provided
- Informing customers when requested parts are available
- Drive a vehicle to designated locations to purchase or pick up parts, including:
- Providing company documentation to vendors as required (e.g., tax exempt form, credit references)
- Reviewing invoices at vendor locations to ensure accuracy on pricing and quantities
- Returning products to the MANCON location in a timely fashion
- Data Entry:
- Assist in generating invoices for customer requisitions in the inventory system
- Assist in entry of vendor receiving documents in the inventory system
- Inventory Management:
- Assist in performing weekly inventory cycle counts
- Assist in performing counts during Wall-to-Wall inventories at the site
- Other duties:
- Follow established guidelines for vehicle and equipment maintenance
- Provide 24-hour support at the VDOT location during emergencies
- Travel to locations to pick up parts
- Assist with inventory research projects as requested
- Adhere to required procedures
- Participate in the SCM continuing training program
- Assist with other duties as assigned
- Use training, knowledge, and experience to research and solve day-to-day issues independently
Requirements
- 1 year of computer experience
- 24-hour availability during emergency and/or critical operations
- Valid Driver’s License with two years of driving experience
- 5 years of experience with auto or heavy-duty truck parts (P1 or P2 ASE certification may be substituted for 2 years of experience)
Preferred Qualifications
- Delivery Driver experience
- Inventory experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license
Physical Requirements
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Essential physical tasks: Driving, lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, stooping, walking
- Work is mostly performed in storerooms and warehouses which may have uncontrolled temperatures and dirt, dust, or damp conditions
- Work is also performed in vehicles traveling to sites
Pay
The compensation range for this position is $13.00 to $24.89 per hour. Placement within this range will be based on a combination of relevant experience, certifications, and/or demonstrated skills that align with the role requirements.
