About the role
The Parts Specialist is responsible for taking calls from external customers, technicians, and working with vendors on over-the-counter parts sales. This position requires a strong sense of urgency in responding to customer needs while maintaining inventory, costs, and quality control.
Responsibilities
- Accept telephone, email, and counter orders for external customers and company technicians; fill orders from stock.
- Research replacement parts using parts manuals, computer listings, or microfiche.
- Discuss use and features of various parts with customers.
- Fill customer orders from stock or by special order; order parts for stock replenishment.
- Advise customers on substitutions or modifications when replacement parts are unavailable.
- Update customers on the status of backordered parts in a timely manner.
- Prepare sales orders for invoicing, receive payment, and obtain credit authorization when necessary.
- Participate in general inventories and cycle counts as required.
- Initiate proper documentation to maintain accurate inventory and sales records.
- Support other Parts Sales Specialists regarding the sale of material handling equipment.
- Handle telephone calls and customer counter interactions to promote overall sales.
- Assist Parts Sales Representatives with order entry, consignment replenishments, and maintenance.
- Distribute and explain Raymond Corporation Service and Parts Bulletins to other parts staff.
- Assist at the back counter and in the stockroom as needed; press tires when required.
- Actively participate in Parts Department training and meetings.
- Perform various duties directly or indirectly associated with parts sales as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is preferred.
- General understanding of machine parts and their functions.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Must maintain effective working relationships with employees, co-workers, and managers in other departments.
- Willingness to work off-hours as needed and assume additional responsibilities.
- Capable of learning all phases of the Parts Department operation with a desire to increase responsibility.
- Must present a neat, professional appearance and maintain an organized work area.
- Must comply with the employee handbook and company policies.
Skills

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work under minimal supervision.
- Willingness to learn new computer programs, inventory procedures, parts manuals, and price books.

Physical Requirements
- Position is non-sedentary.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to smell, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud.
Pay
The hourly range for this position is $23.00 - $31.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by factors including relevant experience, education, and work location.
