Parts Sales Representative

About the role
The Parts Sales Representative is responsible for daily selling and stocking of parts and providing excellent customer service to AVE-PLP customers and service technicians. This is a non-exempt position reporting to the Parts Manager.
Responsibilities
- Sells parts to AVE-PLP customers at the store and at customer locations.
- Maintains a good rapport with AVE-PLP customers and service technicians.
- Maintains an accurate and effective inventory control system.
- Assists in keeping the parts department clean and orderly.
- Records all sales and/or counter transactions.
- Supplies service technicians with parts as required.
- Assists the Parts Manager with merchandising displays.
- Verifies receiving shipments.
- Follows up on shortages and reports them to the Parts Manager for expediting.
- Performs other duties as required to ensure the success of AVE-PLP.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent is required.
- One year of customer service experience is preferred.
- Previous merchandising and parts sales experience is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Skills

- Knowledge of parts merchandising and associated selling techniques.
- Knowledge of financial management as it pertains to the Parts Department.
- Ability to maintain positive and professional working relationships with peers, management, and support resources, with a commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, and peers in person, on the phone, and in writing.
- Ability to use standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Passing a driving record (MVR), criminal history background check, employment verification, and drug screen is required prior to employment.
- Forklift license preferred or ability to obtain one.
Working Environment
The work environment includes occasional outdoor work in extreme weather conditions (hot/cold), walking on uneven terrain, and exposure to insects. There is occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level is moderate. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required, including cold weather gear, eye protection, gloves, and a provided uniform. A clean and safety-conscientious working environment is mandatory. Work may involve long hours and overtime during holidays, weekends, and evenings, with required rotation of on-call responsibilities for up to one week at a time.

- Ability to stand, sit, walk, and walk on unpaved terrain.
- Ability to talk, reach with arms and hands, and have good manual dexterity.
- Use of hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, handle or feel objects.
- Regularly required to talk or hear; may involve climbing ladders, stairs, steps, and traversing catwalk grating.
- Frequent pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, and kneeling; working in confined spaces.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Frequent moving, positioning, and carrying of loads up to 5 pounds upstairs and loading on four-foot-high surfaces.
- Moderate physical work involving lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 pounds frequently and 75 pounds occasionally.
