About the role

The Parts Department Planner 1 is responsible for organizing and controlling the flow of materials through the manufacturing process, determining root causes for shortages, and reconciling inventory. This role also involves expediting shortages and creating, updating, and maintaining shop paper.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor production floor for shortages
  • Expedite shortages through purchasing, weld, and fabrication departments
  • Correct Bill of Materials (BOM) using the BOM query system
  • Manage location systems and gather components for assembly (kitting)
  • Process and reconcile inventory
  • Read work orders/dispatch reports and follow oral instructions
  • Determine root causes for shortages
  • Assemble shop paper, including build books and work order batching
  • Distribute Change Orders (PCO) and follow up on issues
  • Escalate potential issues to the appropriate level for resolution
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Perform all other assigned duties and responsibilities
  • Regular attendance is required

Requirements

  • Six months of previous manufacturing experience
  • Ability to use a tape measure
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Sense of sound and balance required
  • Limb and finger dexterity required
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to perform twisting, turning, bending, climbing, pushing, and pulling motions
  • Ability to lift at least 25 lbs
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)—steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, vest

Work Environment

Working conditions include both indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to extreme temperatures, vibration, and loud noises for extended periods.
