About the Role
Northtown Hyundai is expanding our dealership and seeking a highly motivated Parts Specialist to sell parts to customers over the counter, through the shop, or on the phone.
Pay
This is an hourly plus commission-based position with an annual range of $40,000 - $50,000.
Schedule
Full-time, 3-day rotating schedule: 7:30 AM - 9:00 PM. Shifts alternate monthly between Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday and Thursday/Friday/Saturday. Evening, holiday, and weekend work hours will be required.
Responsibilities
- Assist walk-in customers in selecting required parts, suggest companion requirements, offer specials, and ensure exposure to the full product line.
- Pull purchased parts from stock; if unavailable, determine availability and projected delivery date.
- Answer phone calls, providing price quotes and other information.
- Assist outside sales representatives (e.g., wholesalers) with their orders.
- Assist service technicians in selecting parts needed for repair processes.
- Maintain a friendly, professional, and efficient demeanor with all customers, both on the phone and in person.
- Keep front and rear counter areas clean and uncluttered.
- Replenish assigned inventory daily.
- Advise the parts manager when areas of the department are not in satisfactory condition.
- Stay current on new products and product updates.
- Participate in all available training programs.
- Manage special orders (SOP): place orders, check status daily, and promptly contact customers.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, management, and customers.
Physical Requirements
- Physically demanding role requiring movement throughout parts shelves all day, including reaching and climbing.
- Lift up to 70 lbs.
- Stand six to eight hours during a shift at the customer counter.
- Exposure to noise, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous/nonhazardous materials when delivering parts to the service department.
Qualifications
- Previous automotive parts experience within a dealership or retail setting is a plus but not required.
- Professional personal appearance.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to sell a minimum quota according to dealership standards.
- Ability to work well with the public, sometimes with several customers at a time.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, both verbal and written.
- Ability to operate a smartphone, tablet, and/or PC.
- Valid in-state driver’s license.
