Parts Counter Sales Representative

About the role

Mustang Cat, the authorized Caterpillar® dealer for Southeast Texas since 1952, serves the construction, oil & gas, power generation, marine, and manufacturing industries. We are hiring a customer-focused Parts Counter Sales Representative to support our growing Parts Division. In this role, you will help customers identify, locate, and order the parts they need to keep their equipment running — from researching part numbers and availability to coordinating orders and providing exceptional service.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external Parts customers
• Assist customers in identifying and locating the correct heavy equipment parts
• Research part numbers, quantities, availability, sourcing options, freight, and delivery timelines
• Process parts orders accurately and efficiently
• Communicate order information, availability, and updates to customers
• Use computer systems and parts resources to research and fulfill customer requests
• Collaborate with team members to resolve customer needs and support daily operations
• Assist in other areas of the Parts Department as needed
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
• Follow company policies and safety procedures

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of customer service experience
• Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in heavy equipment or machinery
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn new systems
• Excellent communication skills, including phone, email, written, and face-to-face interactions
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to order accuracy
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Friendly, outgoing, and professional attitude
• Self-motivated with a willingness to take initiative and go above and beyond for customers
• Strong dedication to providing exceptional customer service

Preferred qualifications

• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• Familiarity with Caterpillar parts systems
• Previous experience in heavy equipment, parts sales, industrial supply, or a related industry
• Experience identifying, sourcing, or ordering mechanical and equipment parts
