About the role
Assists fleet parts team with pickups/deliveries, inventory management, conducts inventory checks of truck parts and tools, purchases equipment, tools, parts, and supplies as needed, submits purchase orders (POs) for approval, maintains a safe and professional working environment, attends daily Tool Box Talks, daily Safety Inspections, monthly Environmental Inspections, and submits a weekly PM Report.
Responsibilities
- Helps with preventative maintenance schedules for heavy-duty diesel vehicles and mobile equipment.
- Controls vehicle downtime and units out of service.
- Maintains location tracking and cost allocation of vehicles and equipment.
- Coordinates and prioritizes cost-effective repairs.
- Ensures DOT and other regulatory compliance, record keeping, and reporting (vehicle requirements only).
- Assists with reports for fleet costs and department budgets.
- Recommends and provides the necessary training on current model year vehicles.
- Oversees inspection of vended warranty repairs to ensure that scope of work is complete, and quality of work meets established standards.
Requirements
- Experience in fleet/transportation, repair and maintenance experience for a medium to large size company with multiple facilities preferred.
- Ability to work independently.
- Knowledge and experience with safety regulations, i.e. OSHA, DOT as they apply to the operation.
- Experience managing outside vendors.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Solid computer skills.
- Ability to handle multiple and conflicting priorities.
- Possesses a sense of urgency and ownership.
- Excellent follow-up skills with the ability to complete assignments/projects through to completion.
- Possesses analytical, strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
- Able to work one Saturday per month.
Qualifications
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Some college coursework or technical training in automotive repair or related field.
Skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and DOT compliance.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Pay
Salary range: $20 - $25 per hour, depending on experience.
Schedule
Shift Day, 7:00 AM start time, Part Time (MWF).
